Administrative Updates

  • 10 persons attended the meeting

  • March 31, 2025 deadline for chapter financials submission to Central Office

  • Kyle Brook provided website updates:

    • Added 3 events as of 4PM: today’s meeting, next month’s meeting, and national conference

    • Delegated website management to employee Finn to ensure consistent updates

    • Will implement recording/transcription system for more efficient meeting minutes

NALS/CLSA Conference Discussion

  • Conference starts this weekend

  • Location discussion:

    • Currently alternating between Reno and Las Vegas

    • No formal decision on permanent rotation schedule

    • Increased participation from Southwest region organizations

    • Discussion of venue preferences among Nevada and Southern California members

County Recorder Standards Proposal

  • Kyle Brook presented proposal for standardizing county recorder requirements

  • Key suggestions included:

    • Allowing digital submissions

    • Implementing standardized fonts for better legibility

    • Enabling color/grayscale submissions

    • Creating statewide standards instead of county-specific requirements

    • Adding GIS integration capabilities

  • Discussion of liaison role between chapter and County Recorder’s Association (CRAC)

  • Plan to refine proposal before submission to board

Preservation of Historical Survey Records

  • Discussion regarding Jerry Dean’s survey files after passing

  • Challenges identified:

    • Files organized by client name, making research difficult

    • No standardized process for preserving surveyor records

    • Limited county resources for archiving

  • Potential solutions discussed:

    • Using AI tools for document processing

    • Creating digital archives with township/range organization

    • Implementing immediate photo documentation

    • Exploring partnerships with historical societies

    • Suggestion for CLSA to develop preservation protocol
